Enchong Dee Chides Salvador Panelo Over Before and After Remarks to Hidilyn Diaz
Kapamilya actor Enchong Dee took Twitter and slams Salvador Panelo over his before and after remarks towards gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz.
On Twitter, Enchong slams the two statements of former presidential spokesperson and now Presidential Chief Counsel Panelo towards Hidilyn Diaz, who recently bags gold medal from Tokyo Olympics and become the first Filipino to achieve Olympic gold.
“Jokes on you… never vote for this kind of clown… ever,” Enchong wrote in his Twitter post.
This is in relation to the Presidential Chief Counsel’s assertion in 2019 that Olympic gold medallist Hidilyn Diaz was on their drug list. “Our intelligence report is really solid, kasama ka sa druglist,” he claimed, while the 30-year-old weightlifter was also a part of the Oust Duterte Matrix.

However, he stated on Monday, July 26 that the Duterte administration has long backed the athlete. “Congratulations Ma’am Hidilyn for the gold. [T]he Duterte Administration always extend its support to you!” the Presidential Chief Council said.
The Kapamilya actor’s Twitter tweet went viral, eliciting a variety of responses from Twitter users. However, other internet users highlighted that Panelo’s previous assertion was false.
According to a netizen, fact-checker Vera Files noted there are no government records or news stories linking Panelo saying that Hidilyn is involved to illegal drugs. He has also refuted the accusation. Panelo congratulated Diaz on his Olympic success, but he made no mention of the Duterte administration’s “support.”
“I never said that Ms. Diaz is not entitled to drugs just because she is a sports medalist. Neither did I aver that she was part of a drug list,” he said in a statement issued through his office’s FB page on July 27, where he also called the post “fake.”
He said in a statement published by media: “Her feat makes us Filipinos proud. Her getting the gold is a testament to the Filipino race’s talent and indefatigable spirit. It serves as an inspiration to all Filipino athletes that getting gold in the Olympics is no longer a dream but a reality. Congratulations Hidilyn Diaz !!!”
