Staff Mislook Brand & Accidentally Administered 2 Other Vaccine Brand on Their 2nd Dose
Two individuals in Davao City received other brand of vaccine on their second dose after the staff mislooked the brand.
The Department of Health (DOH) Region 11 confirmed that two individuals in Davao City received different brand of vaccine on their first and second dose. DOH Davao region has yet to give a statement regarding the incident.
DOH Davao region did not give the exact venue and vaccine brand. The authorities are currently investigating the incident. DOH-11 Director Dr. Anabelle Yumang said that the staff allegedly mislooked the brand.
DOH Bicol Dr. Rita Mae Ang-Bon explained that giving different brand of vaccine on the second dose is only allowed if the recipient suffered from severe allergic recipient during the first dose.
Rita also said that DOH do not recommend the mixing, matching and boosting doses of vaccines. Recipients are also required to submit doctor’s prescription upon request to change vaccine brand.
