Slipknot Co-Founder and Ex-Drummer Joey Jordison Passes Away at 46
Slipknot former drummer and co-founder Joey Jordison has passed away at the age of 46 but cause of death was not disclosed.
A family representative announced that the iconic metal drummer Joey Jordison has peacefully passed away in his sleep. The family did not revealed the musician’s cause of death and left millions of fans with empty hearts.
“Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow, To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart, and his love for all things family and music. The family of Joey have asked that friends, fans, and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time,” the representative said.
Joey reportedly passes away last Monday (July 26, 2021) and family is planning to hold a private funeral service.
In 2018, the metal icon revealed that he is suffering from acute transverse myelitis with symptoms starting in 2010. The neurological disease affects his drum performances with the band leading him to split with Slipknot in 2013.
Jordison has been also awarded as the Best Metal drummer in 2010 and named as the world’s greatest metal drummer. He was also honored with The Golden God Award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards.
