Here’s what Lea Salonga said about ‘Trese’
Internationally acclaimed theater actress-singer Lea Salonga shared her opinion on Netflix’s Trese both in Filipino and English audio.
Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano was the one who dubbed the Pinoy anime series in Filipino while Hollywood actress Shay Mitchell did the English version.
To recall, Liza’s dubbing stint has become quite controversial because it has received various opinions on social media. She even received bashing from people who said that she did not give justice to the character of Alexandra Trese.
However, even popular voice talent Inka Magnaye lauded Liza Soberano’s performance although she stressed that there is room for improvement.
Just recently, Lea Salonga shared through her Twitter post that she binge-watched Trese. The Broadway diva said that “it’s so good”. She also shared what she thinks about the Filipino and English dub.
“Binge-watching #TreseOnNetflix! Damn, it’s so good! Watching it with Filipino audio now, then will watch it again in English. Nuance in language is quite an interesting thing, so to listen and appreciate in both languages should enhance the experience!” the famous singer-actress said.
This recent tweet of Lea Salonga about the Pinoy anime series that has earned international popularity received various reactions from netizens. A netizen asked her who she likes the most between the characters of Crispin and Basilio while another one asked her about her favorite episode.
Some netizens shared that their kids also love the series while one mother said that she will recommend this to her kids to watch. There were also those who expressed that they have the same opinion with the Broadway diva.
