PAGASA Releases Latest Update About Tropical Depression Emong
The state weather bureau PAGASA released the latest update about Tropical Depression Emong and TCWS No. 1 has been raised over some parts of the country.
On Monday (July 5, 2021), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has released the latest weather update in the country. Emong would affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Emong has been last spotted at 530 km east northeast of Casiguran, Aurora or 560 km east of Tuguegarao City. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 70 kph.
Emong is moving 40 kph at a west northwest direction heading towards Extreme Northern Luzon. The tropical depression is expected to intensify into a tropical storm within the next 12 hours.
The weather agency raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 over northeast portion of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands. Emong would bring moderate to heavy and at times intense rains are expected over Batanes and Babuyan Islands tonight until tomorrow.
The weather bureau also advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible Isolated to scattered flash flooding and landslides due to surface runoff or swelling of river channels.
PAGASA may also raise TCWS No. 2 over the areas under Signal No. 1 when Emong intensifies into a tropical storm.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the areas under TCWS No. 1 would be rough to very rough, according to the weather agency. Emong would leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday (July 6, 2021).
