However, on May 15, three days after his wife’s admission, he couldn’t find his wife anymore. As such, he spoke to the staff of Government General Hospital in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

According to the staff, his wife had sadly passed away. Afterward, the body was released to the husband. Coincidentally, because of COVID-19 protocols, the family was advised not to open the body bag without any personal protective equipment (PPE).

So, Gaddayya took the body back to his village and performed her final rites on the same day. Sadly, a few days later, he received another message that his son Ramesh, also died due to COVID-19.

Devastated by the loss, Gaddayya held a joint memorial service for both his wife and son. However, he was left in awe after his wife returned home the next day. Naturally, she was upsed and angry that Gaddayya didn’t pick her up from the hospital.

She even borrowed money from strangers to get a taxi home. It turned out that the hospital released a random stranger’s body. Instead, Mutyala was actually moved to another ward.

Meanwhile, investigations on the incident is now underway. However, the staff that released the body is yet to be identified. Moreover, the hospital denied any comments with regards to accusations of neglect.
