Update on Quarantine for Fully-Vaccinated Travelers Arriving in PH

QUARANTINE FOR FULLY-VACCINATED TRAVELERS – The national government eased the quarantine for inbound travelers in PH who are fully-vaccinated against COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought big changes in the field of travel. Nowadays, leisure travel is not encouraged as the threats of the coronavirus is still present.

Traveling now has a different procedure. Everyone has to abide by the health protocols implemented which includes quarantine and swab testing for inbound travelers. Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) coordinate with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) which assist them in the procedure.

Currently, vaccinations against COVID-19 are taking place across the globe. In the Philippines, a huge part of the healthcare workers have already been vaccinated.

The vaccinations of the senior citizens and those who have co-morbidities against COVID-19 have also started. This June, the government is eyeing to start the vaccination of the economic workers and the poor Filipinos.

Amid the COVID-19 vaccination rolling out in the different countries across the globe, the Philippine government decided to ease the quarantine for fully-vaccinated travelers entering PH.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, instead of a 14-day quarantine, the required facility-based quarantine for fully-vaccinated travelers in the Philippines will be seven (7) days. According to presidential spokesman Harry Roque, within the 7-day period, there must be a “strict symptom monitoring” in the facility.

After the 7-day facility-based quarantine, the traveler will do a “self-monitor”. Based on the report, an individual is considered “fully-vaccinated” two (2) weeks after they received their 2nd dose of the vaccine.

Roque also expressed that fully-vaccinated inbound travelers will only be required to undergo an RT-PCR test in case a symptom is manifested within the 7-day facility-based quarantine. After completing the 7-day quarantine, the traveler will be issued a certificate that indicate his or her vaccination status.

  1. It is sad that permanent Philippines visa holders who have been vaccinated in other countries have to quarantine for a full 14 days.
As a fully vaccinated Australian I would love to return to the Philippines, but why would I go there when many other countries allow entry with either NO quarantine at all or just 7 days quarantine. I will just have to spend my money somewhere else until Philippines makes foreign visa holders more welcome.
