Here’s the true reason why Sharon Cuneta flew to the USA amid the pandemic.
SHARON CUNETA – Megastar Sharon Cuneta speaks about and clarifies the real reason why she to go to the United States amid the pandemic.
Megastar and Kapamilya actress Sharon Cuneta was previously emotional as seen in the photos she shared on Instagram before going to the United States. She was in tears saying her goodbye to her family before flying to her Mommy’s Gramp’s country which is also her another home.
She left her husband Senator Kiko Pangilinan and three children in the country indicating that she only needs to breathe. In a previous article, she expressed that she can actually live in the States forever but her husband and children won’t. She added that she can and would willing to transfer there in a heartbeat. It was there where she also got her first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.
And now, finally revealing the real reason why she really went there amid the pandemic, she opened up in live streaming through her Instagram with her husband. Many speculations were made about her departing such as being physically hurt by her husband and finally speaking up, she revealed that she’s actually there because of an opportunity to be in a Hollywood film.

The Megastar revealed that she is supposed to star in Jo Koy’s all-Filipino cast Hollywood film which is to be produced by Steven Spielberg and Dan Lin who made the “Aladdin”. However, because of her dubious swab test result which indicated “false positive”, she needed to let go of it.
“I was coming to Hollywood to do my first Hollywood film, not for any platform, not for Netflix, but for cinematic release with premieres all over,” Sharon said. The role she will supposedly portray is Jo Koy’s character’s supportive aunt in the film.
Being a legal resident allowed her to travel there after being considered. In her narration, she must accordingly be in Los Angeles on May 18 and be in Canada the following day for the shooting. Before flying, she got herself tested and it turned out to be positive. Heart-wrenching as this incident may seem, she did another seven tests and all these seven different tests were accordingly negative.
“That’s why I was so depressed. It was false positive and seven trusted labs tested me negative. Nawalan ako ng malaking oportunidad na ’di na mababalik sa akin. Kahit gusto nila Jo Koy at director na nandoon pa rin ako, wala silang choice na ituloy ’yung movie,” she added.
Going further, the role that she got and she had to let go was given to Tia Carrere, the voice actress behind Nani from “Lilo and Stitch”. Being honest in her live, the Megastar expressed, “It broke my heart. It really did because it was such an honor to be part of the very first all-Filipino production in Hollywood backed by a producer as big as Steven Spielberg.”
Such heartbreak made her leave the Philippines and “lick her wounds” there. Her husband was so supportive of that and let her mourn her loss because of the wrong result. But she’s also making numerous auditions there which is why she needed to stay there for a while.
