Lydia allegedly told her son that if the card was complete, he could withdraw P1,000. However, since her son didn’t know how to use an ATM, he reportedly sought assistance from a friend.

According to Alicia Cagaoan, the bank’s boss, the person who assisted the child appeared to have a blurred eye. As a result, instead of pressing P1,000, P10,000 was pressed.

However, the ATM card and a note saying “sorry” came out of the system. The son assumed the withdrawal would not go through, so he simply left with the ATM card.

The child was unawared that the P10,000 withdrawn from the machine came out and left stuck in the machine. When a local saw the money, he took it and brought the money to the barangay along with the receipt or withdrawal slip rather than having interest.

The barangay, on the other hand, used social media to track down the money’s owner. Since there was a withdrawal slip, Landbank was able to track down the money’s rightful owner and return it to Lydia.
