DOH Reveals Filipino Patient of India COVID-19 Variant Intubated while 3 Others Rely on Oxygen Support
FILIPINO PATIENT OF INDIA COVID-19 – One of the 12 patients of the COVID-19 variant first detected in India was intubated.
The fight against the spread of COVID-19 is undeniably a much bigger battle now following the emergence of new variants of the coronavirus disease. These new variants also scattered across the globe and PH is one of those that logged cases of the new variants.
One of the new variants detected in the Philippines is the variant that was first logged in India. Hospitals in India were filled with COVID-19 patients and they can no longer accommodate everyone.
Furthermore, hospital equipment and supplies were running out that doctors plead for help amid the worsening scenario in India. Mass cremations took place as thousands of deaths take place in a day.
Many countries temporarily implemented travel restrictions from travelers from India. One of these nations is the Philippines. However, PH still logged cases of the India COVID-19 variant.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, currently, there are 12 cases of the India COVID-19 variant in the Philippines. According to the Department of Health (DOH), nine (9) of the patients are crew of a ship, MV Athens, from India, two (2) were from Belgium, and one (1) patient was from Oman.
Unfortunately, a Filipino patient of the India COVID-19 variant is currently intubated. Based on the report, three (3) other patients of the said variant are under oxygen support.
Currently, PH is still imposing restrictions on several countries including India amid the fight against COVID-19. The authorities reported that the daily cases in the National Capital Region (NCR), the epicenter of the spread of the disease, has dropped.
Despite it, authorities continue to remind the public not to let the guards down as the threats of the disease are still existing. The vaccination program is now ongoing.
