Result of Autopsy of Senior Citizen Who Died After Getting COVID-19 Vaccine
RESULT OF AUTOPSY OF SENIOR CITIZEN – A 73-year-old man in Cagayan de Oro died after getting AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
Currently, vaccinations against COVID-19 is ongoing in the Philippines. Several kinds of vaccines including AstraZeneca, Sinovac, and Pfizer have arrived in the country. The healthcare workers and the senior citizens are the top priorities in the vaccination.
For senior citizens who cannot make it to vaccination facilities, the Department of Health (DOH) has allowed the house-to-house administration of the vaccine. The country is in the pursuit to achieve the “herd immunity” this year.

In Cagayan de Oro, vaccination was administered in a mall. However, recently, a senior citizen who received AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine died a few hours after he was vaccinated.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the deceased was identified as Zoilo Joaquin Borcillo, 73-years-old. It was last May 12 when he received a COVID-19 vaccine in a mall after reportedly going through a screening process.
According to the report, it was found in the screening that Borcillo has a maintenance medicine for hypertension. He signed a consent to be given the COVID-19 vaccine. However, after a few minutes, he became unconscious and was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Recently, the result of the autopsy of the senior citizen who died after getting COVID-19 vaccine was released. It was reported by Regional Crime Laboratory Office 10 medico legal officer Police Lt. Col. Dr. Christian Karl Caballes.
Based on the result of the autopsy of the senior citizen who died after getting COVID-19 vaccine, he died of cardiac arrest. He was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction which is a hypertensive cardiovascular disease.
The autopsy result also stated that there was no blood clot spotted in his organs that were vaccine-related. His heart was found to be covered with fats and was not able to pump well resulting to heart attack. The LGU of Cagayan de Oro extended its sympathies to the family of Borcillo.
