LGBT Group Gives Free Contraceptives at Community Pantry in Davao City to Prevent Teenage Pregnancies

A weird community pantry in Davao City is already distributing free contraceptives and lubricants to the public.

Over the past few days, community pantries become one of the most discussed topics online providing free goods for the less-fortunate Filipinos who can’t afford to buy enough supply of foods.

Maginhawa community pantry in Quezon city started the program until other areas imitated the charity works.

A group of LGBT organized a program to help the Filipino people to prevent the increase cases of teenage pregnancies. The group donated contraceptives for male, pills and lubricants at Bucana community pantry in Purok 9, Barangay 76-A, Davao City.

LGBT Davao City Coalition Regie Manginsay said that the group has an advocacy of spreading awareness about STD and HIV-AIDS. They are also seeking help from the public to support the community pantries.

The group is also accepting plastic bottles that they could sell at junkshops to earn money to support the community pantry. They have also advised the public to take only three items at a time so others could have also.

Manginsay also expressed its gratitude towards the Reproductive Health and Wellness Center (RHWC) and Family Planing Organization of the Philippines (FPOP) for the supplies of contraceptives.
