Several Towns in Samar Experiences Submerged in Floodwaters Due to Effects of Typhoon Bising

Several towns in Samar Island have experienced massive flooding due to the heavy rains brought by Typhoon Bising.

On Monday (April 19, 2021), Typhoon Bising brings heavy rains in various parts of the country, which leads to massive flooding over some parts of Samar Island. The flooding even reached two storey houses in the area.

The town of Jipapad in Eastern Samar experienced flooding after the river bank in the area overflows, which results to massive flooding. The flood reached two-storey houses and some facilities in the city hall have been soaked in floodwaters.

The floodwaters also submerged the houses in the town of Gamay in Northern Samar. The affected residents have also evacuated and went to evacuation centers for their own safety.

The local government units of Mapanas and Palapag in Northern Samar suspend the classes and government work due to the inclement weather condition brought by the typhoon.

Bising has been last spotted at 235 kilometers of northeast of Virac, Catanduanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hours and gustiness of 240 kph. It would bring an inclement weather condition over Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran and northern portion of Leyte.
