Barangay Tanod was Killed as He was Stabbed While Patrolling in Iloilo City
ILOILO CITY – A barangay tanod was killed while patrolling in their area after he was stabbed by a suspect who has grudge with him.
The barangay tanod on duty was killed after being stabbed while on patrol. The victim was identified as Pascualing Castanja, 54, a resident of Barangay Supanga, Calinog, Iloilo.
Currently, the Calinog PNP is holding the suspect identified as Angelo Jose Sibuna, 23-years-old. During the police investigation, the village guard and roaming in the area when the suspect suddenly approached and stabbed him in the chest.

Based on the report, after intervening in an earlier incident involving the perpetrator, Sibuna allegedly stabbed the victim. Following the crime, the defendant surrendered. He is currently imprisoned and is expected to face murder charges.
Meanwhile, a man passed away after he was allegedly mauled by two barangay tanods in Barangay Tubina for violating the curfew policy in the area. The victim allegedly went out to buy food around 10 pm but it took him too long to come back.
The victim’s brother followed his sibling when he saw his brother who suffered injuries after the village watchmen beat him. The victim suffered a cracked skull and bruises due to the incident.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government has confirmed that the two village watchmen’s reckless behavior will not be tolerated. The victim’s family was also told that justice will be done by the agency.
