Mayor Vico Sotto gave fenerous “ayuda”
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto received praise from OPM singer Renz Verano for the “ayuda” that is worth more than P500.
The statement of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristine Roque that P500 is enough as a noche buena budget became controversial. She was contradicted by many netizens and celebrities.
Despite the backlash, Roque insisted that the P500 noche buena budget is enough, and the DTI even released a list of the affordable products that they can buy.

Only a few people agreed with what DTI stated about the meal budget for the upcoming holiday celebration, and one of them was veteran actress Gloria Diaz, who said that Roque is her friend and the latter even gave an example of how to make a P500 noche buena budget enough.
When it comes to people of Pasig City, Renz Verano showed on his recent Facebook page that they are receiving “ayuda” that is worth more than P500.
Since Mayor Vico Sotto assumed the position, he made sure that every household would receive the “Pamaskong Handog.” Known for his transparency, he even released a video showing the items included and the prices. His administration made sure to get the best quality while also considering the chance to save.
In Renz’s FB post, he said that P500 is not a thing in Pasig because they have to receive “ayuda,” aside from the P3,000 aid for senior citizens. “May ham mula sa barangay at may groceries pang binibigay si Mayor sa bawat pamilya. Iba talaga pag mahusay at may puso ang pinuno,” the veteran singer said.

Meanwhile, aside from Renz Verano, Mayor Vico also received a remark of admiration from seasoned actor Gardo Verzosa. In a statement last October, Gardo said that the Pasig City Mayor is the “huling baraha ng Pilipinas.”
There had been people urging Mayor Vico to run for president in the 2028 elections. However, as early as May, he had been very vocal about his aim to exit from the political arena. He even shared his options. The mayor said that he could go back to school or work in the private sector.
