ANGELICA PANGANIBAN – Dramatic actress Angelica Panganiban shares reason why she wanted to retire from doing television series.
Since she was young, actress and comedienne Angelica Panganiban has been working in the industry. People have seen her growth and her evolution as an actress and how she just gets better and better in her craft like a fine wine. However, with the health situation of the country affecting the production shoots, she has come up with a decision to really retire from doing teleseryes.
It’s been a long time since she announced this but her thought to retire didn’t change. She remained firm to give herself the rest she deserves. During the final press conference for “Walang Hanggang Paalam”, she shared that coming up with such a huge decision never happened overnight. She took her time to think about this and weighed in the effects it can possibly do to her life.
She went through a lot of considerations before she announced her retirement in doing series. Before her series now, she has already prepared herself that “Playhouse” will be her last TV project. However, the pandemic happened and her network was denied of a franchise which left her with no choice but to accept what has been offered to her. She felt like it’s insensitive to reject a job amid the pandemic when there are a lot of people out there were losing one.
And after experiencing being in a bubble for filming her latest series, it only gave her more reasons to really quit from doing it. She shared, “So nung na-experience ko na yung trabahong ginawa namin para sa show, dun na talaga ako na-convince na siguro nga last na ‘to kasi yung pagod na puwede ko pang itrabaho 50 years pa from now, naibigay ko na sa show na ‘to. Pati yung luha, wala na akong maipatak (laughs).”
However, she’s not putting an end to it yet because she’s still open to doing one, years from now if the role being offered is something she cannot say no to. For now, she cannot wait to finally be free from doing her daily tapings. Her teleserye now will be airing its final episode this month and ahead of her is a lineup of movies to do.
