Pinoy Ad Man Invents Self Heating Food Box Similar to Military

A Pinoy ad man named Romeo Joven Jr. invented a food box that heats takeout meals by just pulling a string.

TV commercial producer Romeo Joven Jr. has been used to order takeout meals due to his line of work. He is unsatisfied because the food is always cold, tough and dry if he tried to reheat it in the microwave oven.

Due to his experience, the former ad man starts to research on how to heat foods easily similar to the one used in the military. Soldiers have foods, heating pad, water and small empty bag inside their meal packs.

However, soldiers have to pour the water manually on the heat pad, which heats up the food after a few minutes. Joven want to imitate the idea but he wanted to simplify it because military’s rations requires many steps and quite messy.

Romeo eventually modified the soldier’s meal pack and created a sleek bento box wherein users just need to pull a string so that the water goes to the heating pad, which would create an exothermic reaction to heat up the food.

“This then creates an exothermic reaction that heats up the food,” Romeo said.

The Pinoy inventor named his product “Hotbox” that could heat up any foods includintg burgers and fried chicken. The product can be reuse but users need to replace the heating mechanism every use.

Hotbox prices ranges from P75 for solo meals to P245 for platter of 8 pax. Solo meals are available at P150 to P300, while party platters are from P800 to P1000.
