DILG Plans to Extend 15-Day Cash Aid Deadline For Lockdown-Affected Residents
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) would extend the 15-day cash aid deadline for some cases.
Interior Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya that the agency would extend the 15-day deadline of cash aid distribution to the residents affected by the coronavirus-related lockdown in the National Capital Region.
Malaya said that he understands that some local government units are experiencing hardships completing the distribution of financial assistance to the affected residents in just 15 days.
The DILG executive that the deadline has been extended since the size of the area and population is huge. LGU can file a request for extension to DILG and DSWD, according to Malaya.
The government official said that the 15-day deadline must be extended because some residents in Metro Manila, including Quezon City failed to observe the safety protocols while queuing for a couple of hours just to get a financial aid from the national government.
“Depende po reasons na ibibigay nila… Kung justifiable ang reason magbibigay naman ng additional time, Depende po sa sitwasyon. Andaming tao and hindi ganoon karami ang disbursing officer,” Malaya said.
