Manny Pacquiao For President “Lacks Competence” Says Carpio

Here’s what retired Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio said about Manny Pacquiao running for president in the 2022 national election.

MANNY PACQUIAO – Professional boxer and senator Manny Pacquiao’s absences is one of the reasons why he “lacks competence” for the presidency.

Senator Panfilo Lacson revealed that Senator Manny Pacquiao accordingly went to him and approached him with his plans to run in the 2022 national elections as president. He asked him over matters like budget and he affirmed that he is open to run for the presidency next year. According to the Presidential Preference survey, he is among the politicians pressed to do this.

The same thing is revealed by Senator Tito Sotto who said that Pacquiao is interested to push for it next year not entirely asking for his help but seemingly “parang bumubusina lang”. In previous interviews of Pacquiao asking about his 2022 election plans, he would always dodge the topic saying that people must focus on the pandemic.

With these reports going on online, retired Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio said on Wednesday that Pacquiao “lacks competence” for the said position. His coalition, 1Sambayanan, is not considering the boxer and one reason for this is because of his absences. Carpio said that he’s the top absentee both in Congress and in the Senate.

He even added during an interview over ABS-CBN News Channel that such basic trait, which is competence, is not there. He stressed that eventhough he has a good heart, what the country needs is a leader who is competent enough for the economy’s revival, generate employment for the people, and come up with a solution for this pandemic.

He added, “We cannot have a president who is absent. When there is a task you cannot be absent.”
