Previously, speculations surfaced that Pacquiao and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno will be running mates in the next polling as they were spotted together having dinner. In a previous article, it was said that Congressman Lito Atienza stated that it has long been the dream of Senator Manny to run for president.

When asked about this in a previous interview, Manny Pacquiao stressed that politics is not in his priority list right now. He said that he is more focused on addressing the current COVID-19 situation in the country.

In a recent report, Senator Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson said that his seatmate in the Senate, intended to run for the highest political position in the Philippines. The older lawmaker said that the boxing champ has approached him several times and asked help regarding his plan to run for president, especially when it comes to budget.

On the other hand, Senator Lacson said that despite his fellow lawmaker has said this, the latter is still consistent in his statement that the crisis brought by COVID-19 must be dealt with first and not the issue on politics.

In line with this, journalist Paolo Romero of The Philippine Star shared this short video of Senator Manny Pacquiao addressing the reports saying that he intends to run for president.

“Ang pagiging presidente ay destiny na kaloob ng Panginoon. Marami nang nangarap at marami na rin ang nabigo ngunit ang hangad ko sa susunod na maging presidente ay may tunay na malasakit at tunay na pagmamahal sa mamamayang Pilipino,” the boxing champ said.

He also called out to the public stop “ang kulay sa pulitika” as he stressed the compassion towards Filipino people.
