Manila Places 6 Villages Under Lockdown Due to Increase of COVID-19 Cases
The Manila local chief executive placed six villages in the city under a granular lockdown due to the increase of COVID-19 cases.
On Friday (March 19, 2021), Manila Mayor Isko Moreno seen an increase in cases of the coronavirus disease in the city over the past few weeks. He is thinking that the surge of COVID-19 cases could be a result of being complacent.
Manila has imposed stricter quarantine guidelines and safety protocols. All government agencies in the city have been ordered to limit the number of employees in the offices.
“Your city government is going back to 24/7 operation to monitor if rules are being implemented properly by the enforcement agencies and barangays are doing their responsibility to contain infection and other simple medical protocol and other health rules. Ang city naman ngayon ay talagang tuloy-tuloy ang aming paghahanap o pagla-lockdown or what we call granular lockdown,” Moreno said.
The Manila mayor also said that six villages in the city have been lockdown a few days ago. The granular lockdown affects about 7,900 families. The local government distributes food boxes and continue to conduct test to the residents.
Moreno said that they are already preparing in case of emergencies. Manila recorded a total of 32,228 COVID-19 cases.
