DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte ordered the vaccination of the poor Filipinos against COVID-19 after the health workers.

The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines is ongoing. Every day, there are still fresh cases of the disease recorded by the Department of Health (DOH). This coronavirus disease has taken a lot of lives already.

Not only PH but as well as more than 200 countries and territories across the globe are fighting against COVID-19 now. Unfortunately, amid the fight against the first strain detected, new variants of the coronavirus disease were logged.

Meanwhile, vaccines against the disease have already been developed. Several countries now including the Philippines are rolling out the vaccines.

In the Philippines, the top priority in the giving of the COVID-19 vaccines are the health workers. They are considered as the frontliners in the fight against the disease.

Recently, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte ordered the vaccination of the informal settlers or the poor Filipinos against COVID-19 after the health workers. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the President expressed that he does not anymore want to wait for the surplus or the excess of the vaccines.

Pres. Duterte wants the poor Filipinos to be vaccinated against COVID-19 this week after the health workers and the senior citizens are done receiving the vaccines. He stressed that the government officials and workers are among those who will be the last in the line.

Based on the report, the Chief Executive is also thinking about mobile vaccinations so that people will just wait for the team to get to their homes. According to Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III, this move will need a lot of people to people to monitor individually those who will be given the vaccine.

“You have to be observed for 30 minutes to about 1 hour individually for a possible serious side effects,” Duque said.

The Health Secretary stressed that there might be insufficient workforce if the team would go to barangays for the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine. He emphasized that the monitoring is a very important step in the process.
