DILG Warns Cases Awaits to LGUs Imposing Strict Travel Requirements
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has warned the local government units (LGUs) imposing strict travel requirements despite new resolution.
DILG warns that it will punish the reprimanded LGUs that so far have not complied with the implemented resolution of the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19. DILG Undersecretary and Spokesperson Jonathan Malaya said the agency will issue a memorandum circular.
The memorandum is mandating LGUs to adhere to uniform travel protocols set by the IATF. Malaya stressed that when the memorandum circular is issued and there are still LGUs that do not comply, they will a ‘show cause order.’

This is because some LGUs still do not comply with the protocols stated in Resolution 101 issued by the task force. Malaya urged LGUs to comply so as not to face a case that may be filed by the DILG.
“The DILG will release a memorandum circular implementing IATF Resolution 101… Once it is released and there are still non-compliant LGUs, and there may be some, then the DILG will be forced to issue a show-cause order,” Malaya said at the online briefing.
Under the resolution, travelers are no longer required to undergo COVID-19 testing unless required by the LGU. Quarantine will also not be enforced unless the patient shows symptoms of illness upon arrival at his / her destination.
Travel authority and health certificates are also no longer required. The DILG official noted that until now there are still some LGUs that do not comply with the resolution because they are waiting for the implementing rules and regulations (IRR).
