Despite suspension in other countries, COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca jabs in PH continues.
COVID-19 VACCINE ASTRAZENECA – Amid the blood clot report after being injected with COVID-19 vaccine AstraZeneca, jabs in PH will still continue.
In the previous week, the Philippines has received nearly half a million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines, the initial batch, from the COVAX facility. This particular type of vaccine against the COVID-19 is developed by the said British-Swedish pharmaceutical firm.
After a couple of days, another 38,400 doses arrived in the country completing the initial supply of 525,600 vaccine doses that the COVAX global facility has promised to the Philippines. Philippine vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said that the government targets to vaccinate the 1.7 million health workers within March as they fear of surge due to new variants.
With the jabs continuing around the world, countries like Denmark, Norway, and Iceland temporarily suspended giving jabs to their people using the vaccine from AstraZeneca due to blood clots. There were reports that some people who were vaccinated developed blood clots while death due to multiple thrombosis in Austria is being investigated.
In the country, such a vaccine will still continue to be of use for “there is no indication for the Philippines to stop the rollout of AstraZeneca vaccines” as per the Department of Health and the Food and Drug Administration.
Also, according to CNN, the Spain’s Public Health Commission will delay giving AstraZeneca vaccines people aged between 55 and 65 years old until “there is a full review and conclusion of side effects by the European Medicines Agency (EMA)”.
