Village Chairwoman Killed In Calinog Town, Iloilo Province
CALINOG TOWN – A village chairwoman from Capiz recently died after getting shot by an unknown assailant in Calinog town, Iloilo province.
The victim, identified as Julie Catamin, aged 49, was on her was home to Tapaz town, Capiz province when she was shot by an unknown assailant aboard a motorcycle. Catamin was the chairperson in Barangay Roosevelt, Tapaz.
Investigations show that she was also aboard a motorcycle and was travelling in Barangay Malitbog Centro in the said municipality when the assailant attacked the victim.
The suspect then proceeded to flee away from the scene of the crime after the incident.
Catarmin was taken to the nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival, based on the report. Her family wished justice for her death.
In a separate accident, a drug suspect who is subject to illegal possession of firearms search was killed in abust operation in Naga City.

The police were about to serve a search warrant on the suspect, who then proceeded to open fire against the authorities.
This prompted the police to fire back, hitting the suspect, who then died before he was taken to the hospital.
Recovered from the incident were five cartridges for a caliber .38 pistol, two fired cartridge cases, two glass pipes, and two sachets of suspected illegal drugs.
