The authorities detained Maurice Francis O’Connor, aged 75, at police headquarters for being unruly and refusing to wear a face mask and shield despite being reminded of the health protocols inside the airport.

Authorities added that O’Connor also destroyed the airport’s COVID-19 information board at the arrival extension area last Wednesday, February 3.

A concessionaire in the airport also filed a complaint after the suspect allegedly spilled water on her face, adding that he stole 2 bottles of water and some other food from her.

The public affairs office has informed the US Embassy regarding his behavior. As of the moment, no one from the embassy has seen the suspect.

O’Connor earlier said he is from Massachusetts and is a Vietnam war veteran and was stranded at the airport after missing his flight to Thailand.

An airport security guard said that the American has been sleeping in the airport for the past couple of weeks.
