2 ROFs from Negros Occidental Claiming to be LSIs to Face Legal Actions

2 Returning Overseas Filipino (ROFs) to face legal actions after they claim themselves as Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) in Negros Occidental.

According to Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz, the two ROFs actually coming from Saudi Arabia and Turkey. However, they falsified their documents to declare themselves as LSIs.

Based on the report of Manila Bulletin, five returning Negrenses from the United Kingdom last week were also subjected for investigation as they fake their point of origin amidst the threat of mutated coronavirus disease (COVID-19) variant from the UK.

Among the five was a couple who tested positive for the virus. They will face charges filed by the provincial government for misdeclaration after they identified themselves as LSIs.

Provincial Legal Office has already prepared the case against them, adding that they will ask the Provincial Board to pass a resolution to allow Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson to file the case, said Diaz.

He added that they have already sent a letter to the National Inter-Agency Task Force informing them of the said cases happening in the province. “They should plug the gaps to ensure that it will not happen again in the future,” Diaz said.
