Pres. Duterte Wants UAE, Hungary Part of Travel Ban Imposed
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte ordered a travel ban on Hungary and UAE to curb the spread of the UK variant of COVID-19.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought a lot of changes in the Philippines. Until now, classes in schools have yet to return to face-to-face schemes as the threat of the coronavirus disease is still present.
It is now a protocol to wear a face mask and exhibit social distancing when going outdoors. PH is one of the over 200 countries and territories across the globe that logged cases of the coronavirus disease.
Previously, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that COVID-19 pandemic is going to be a long-term battle. It advises countries not to let their guards down early to prevent a second wave of the disease.
However, amid the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic now, a new variant of the coronavirus disease was detected in the United Kingdom. Several other countries have already confirmed cases of the UK variant of COVID-19.

To curb the spread of the said new variant of coronavirus, several nations were quick to impose travel ban on certain countries. Philippines has a list of countries where foreign travelers are banned of entry.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte recently added Hungary and UAE on travel ban over the UK variant of COVID-19. Foreign travelers who have been to any of these countries in the last 14 days will not be allowed of entry to PH.
Aside from UAE and Hungary that Pres. Duterte has recently ordered to be part of the travel ban, based on the report, there are 32 other countries included in the travel restrictions. Refer to the full list below:

Reportedly, the travel ban set on UAE and Hungary is effective 12:01 in the morning (Manila time) on January 17, 2021. Filipinos coming from countries banned may still go home but must undergo a facility-based 14-day quarantine despite negative RT-PCR results.
