According to the article of Inquirer, Gatchalian’s statement came after the Octa Research team has observed an increase of COVID-19 cases following various public activities during holidays.
Octa Research has warned the government of the possibility of a “significant surge” in COVID-19 cases in the coming weeks in Metro Manila due to rising social gatherings.
It said that the possibility of a new and more infectious variant of COVID-19 may already exist in the Philippines and “super spreaders” events such as the celebration of the Black Nazarene could be the way to the possible climb of cases.
