The Department of the Interior and Local Government has released the list of allowed pyrotechnics or “pailaw” for New Year celebration.

In the Philippines, pyrotechnics materials, fireworks, and firecrackers have been already a part of the Filipino culture and traditions throughout the decades every New Year’s Eve. A lot of people believe that it could drive away bad energies in the incoming year.

However, pyrotechnics and firecrackers usually cause fire, damage to properties, and injuries. Numerous children, teenagers and even adults have been already victimized by those materials every New Year.

Allowed Pyrotechnics

On Thursday (December 31, 2020), many Filipino people are already busy purchasing fireworks and other pyrotechnics at the Bocaue Fireworks complex in Bulacan a few hours before the New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Several local government units have released permits for selling and using pyrotechnics or ‘pailaw’. However, selected ‘pailaw’ is only allowed while firecrackers in many areas are strictly prohibited.

  • Luces
  • Mabuhay
  • Roman Candle
  • Sparklers
  • Trompillo
  • Whistle Device
  • Other Similar Pailaw
