Duterte Disagrees on Not Allowing Filipinos from UK To Go Home to PH

Pres. Duterte Speaks on Traven Ban Set to U.K. Travelers

DUTERTE – Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte wants the Filipinos in the United Kingdom (U.K.) exempted from the travel ban set over the new coronavirus strain.

More than 200 countries and territories recorded cases of COVID-19, a disease that has shaken several healthcare systems across the globe. Philippines is one of the nations that is currently dealing with the pandemic.

This coronavirus disease exempts no one – young and old although the seniors and those who are immuno-compromised may be prone to contracting it.

To curb the spread of COVID-19, the national government placed the entire country under community quarantine measures. Traveling from one place to another now is not as easy as it was before.

However, while the country is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, another threat seems to emerge – a mutated strain of coronavirus that was detected in the United Kingdom.

The Philippines joined other countries in banning travels from U.K. after the said mutated strain of coronavirus was detected in the country. Several other nations have confirmed cases of the said mutated strain.

Amid the travel ban imposed on travelers from U.K., Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte disagrees on not allowing Filipinos based in U.K. to go home to the Philippines.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the President stressed that whether or not Pinoys based in U.K. will be allowed to go home, “we do not escape”. He said he will agree with banning a Filipino if it is proven that the person is infected.

“Filipinos coming home, we just have to gamble that hopefully they are not carriers,” he said.

With regards to the British people and the foreigners from U.K., Pres. based on the report, Duterte does not want to allow them of entry to the Philippines now following the detection of the mutated strain of coronavirus.

“Kung mahawa tayo ng puti, that is a disaster,” he said.

Recently, several other countries confirmed cases of the mutated strain of coronavirus. In PH, there is a possibility that strict quarantine measures will be implemented again if an outbreak will occur.
