Inmates Still Allowed by For Online Dalaw During “Bisperas ng Pasko”
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology BJMP would still allow the ‘online dalaw’ for inmates during “Bisperas ng Pasko.”
On Thursday (December 24, 2020), BJMP spokesperson Jail Chief Insp. Xavier Solda said that e-dalaw or online visits would still continue in jail facilities nationwide but face-to-face visitation remains prohibited.
Solda reported that from 1.998 COVID-19 cases recorded by BJMP since March 2020 it drops to 38 as of December 2020. The infection has been reduced after prohibiting the physical visitation in compliance with the safety protocols.
“We cannot resume yet the contact visitation for health and safety reason not only of our PDL (persons deprived of liberty) and personnel pati na rin of course ‘yung mga bibisita,” Solda said.
The police executive explained that the inmates understand the situation and want their families and loved ones to be safe by staying at their homes.
“Maski sila (bilanggo) concerned sila sa movement ng kanilang pamilya, aware sila na ang virus nandyan pa rin, nagmu-mutate na nga and it’s very important na maprotektahan sila sa loob ng kanilang tahanan…So mas mabuti na team bahay muna,” the cop added.
