Malacañang reacted to the statement of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Debold Sinas on taking photos and videos of incidents following the Tarlac incident.

The recent incident in Tarlac sparked alarm in several aspects. Many were enraged by the act of police corporal Jonel Nuezca to two civilians, mother and son Sonya and Frank Gregorio.

Nuezca reportedly went to the Gregorios following the sound of “boga“. However, the confrontation heated up until it led to the peak when the cop took the lives of his two neighbors through his service firearm.

A lot of people witnessed the incident including some minors. A video of the incident was also captured and posted online.

The said video of the Tarlac incident caught the social media by storm. It went viral and sparked calls for justice for the Gregorios. There were also some netizens who defended Nuezca.

With regards to taking photos and videos of similar incidents, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Debold Sinas expressed discouragement to the public on doing it. He highlighted the risk on the one taking a photo or video.

Recently, Malacañang reacted to the statement of PNP Chief Debold Sinas about taking photos and videos of incidents. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, there is really a possibility that it will ignite risk but it can help in the investigation.

“Pero ganoon pa man ‘no, nandiyan po ang teknolohiya para mapabilis po ang paglilitis noong mga lumalabag sa batas,” President spokesman Harry Roque said.

According to Roque, with regards to the Tarlac incident, the video can help as in evidence after the authentication on who captured it. Currently, police corporal Jonel Nuezca is in the hands of the authorities after surrendering.
