Japan May Ban Sale Of New Gasoline-Engine Vehicles By Mid-2030
GASOLINE-ENGINE VEHICLES – The government of Japan is considering to ban sales of new gasoline-engine cars by mid-2030.

This is in favor of hybrid or electric vehicles which is in lieu with a global shift from traditionally powered cars, according to a report from Reuters.
The said move would follow a pledge from Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga in October for the country to slash carbon emissions to zero on a net basis by 2050 and make Japan the second G7 nation to set a deadline for phasing out gasoline vehicles in a bit over a couple of weeks.
The country’s industry ministry will map out a plan by the end of the year, according to chief government spokesman Katsunobu Kato.
It also considers requiring all new vehicles to be electric cars, among them include hybrid vehicles. The ministry would also finalize a formal target following expert-panel debates as early as, again, the end of the year.
The share of electricity vehicles in Japan is predicted to increase to 55% in 2030. This came from a report on prospects for battery-powered cars by the Boston Consulting Group.
“the speed of expansion of the share of electric vehicles will accelerate due to the fact that battery prices are falling more rapidly than previously expected,”
Based on the report, the United Kingdom will ban sales of new petrol and diesel powered cars and vans from 2030, which would bring forward the phase-out date by five years in a “green revolution” as called by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Japan, China, and South Korea also announced firm targets to end net emissions of carbon. This gave momentum for companies and banks to push for cutbacks in order to keep global warming in chevck.
Policies and investments in the next few years will also be vital to setting the opportunities to carbon neutrality, climate activists and energy transition strategists all agree.
