Angel Locsin Reacts To DepEd Module That ‘Body-shamed’ Her

Here’s Angel Locsin’s Reaction to DepEd’s Module ‘Body-Shaming’ Her

ANGEL LOCSIN – Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin expressed her reaction after reading the Department of Education’s (DepEd) statement apologizing for the viral learning module.

On Friday evening, November 13, the Department of Education (DepEd) issued a statement apologizing for a Facebook post showing part of the music, arts, physical education, and health (MAPEH) module that body-shamed actress Angel Locsin.

DepEd is seemingly affected by the actions of the teacher who fat-shamed her by describing her “an obese person.” The situation in the module states: “Angel Locsin is an obese person. She, together with Coco Martin, eats fatty and sweet food in Mang Inasal fast food restaurant most of the time. In her house, she always watching television and does not have any physical activities.”

On Sunday, November 15, Angel Locsin took to her Instagram account to express her reaction after reading DepEd’s statement apologizing for the controversial module. She asked what will happen to the children in the future if they are taught by their teachers to be disrespectful and to ridicule other people.

“I don’t mind the insults. Cheap comments do not define who I am.”

“I intended to ignore this issue, but when I read deped’s statement, aba teka lang.”

“What bothers me most is apart from teaching incorrect grammar to the students, DepEd seems unaffected that the said teacher is teaching bad conduct and sowing discrimination among the children. Anong mangyayare sa future kung ang mga kabataan ay tinuturuan ng pambabastos at pangungutya sa kapwa?”

The prominent actress said the education department should be held accountable and “must correct” the educator who “body-shamed her.” She added that the teacher should likewise apologize to his/her students.

“The said teacher should apologize to his students and all the students that read the module.”

“I am fortunate that I had teachers who value good manners and right conduct. Every child deserves to have teachers like them,” she added.
