Public became aware of the Cagayan flood a bit late, netizens realize importance of ABS-CBN regional news.
CAGAYAN FLOOD – Numerous netizens share their sentiments and realizations over loss of ABS-CBN regional news following perennial flooding in Cagayan.
On Thursday afternoon, Magat Dam in Isabela opened 7 spillway gates which sparked fear of severe flooding to release water as the level continually increases. Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) hydrologist Jason Bausa has warned about this.
Accordingly, what Magat Dam has released is way too much volume for the Magat River and Cagayan River’s capacity to handle. The Magat Dam rose to 192.88 meters almost reaching its spilling level of 193 meters. This is after the substantial rain it earned from recent weather events including Typhoon “Ulysses”.
And recently making rounds online is the devastating situation of Cagayan and of the other areas where flood waters reached the top of their houses. This was then when some people realized the lack of information about their situation which is supposed to be covered by ABS-CBN regional news if only the network wasn’t shut down.
To recall, the country has gone through a lot of typhoons and among the leading sources that people have, came from ABS-CBN which has the widest reach. It can reach far-flung areas of the country which led to immediate response, rescuing, and sending of donations. Moreover, ABS-CBN is also one of the leading organizations when it comes fund-raisings and spearheading donation drives for the victims of the calamity. But that was before when they still have their franchise to operate.

Ako lang ba or parang may news blackout ang Cagayan?
IF ONLY ABSCBN Regional News weren’t affected by the network’s shutdown
Not sure but abscbn regionals were proven to be most needed and missed right now.
Extensive media coverage by AbsCbn would have been a big help in this situation.
The government may deny all they want, pero napilay talaga info dissemination lalo sa mga probinsya.
I’m sorry, ABSCBN can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, ’cause it’s dead!
“The closure of ABSCBN and its regional network has affected the information dissemination in the far flung areas of the country.”
