Cynthia Villar is Senate’s Richest Member; Leila De Lima Poorest
CYNTHIA VILLAR – The latest SALN showed that Sen. Cynthia Villar remains the richest senator while Sen. Leila de Lima is the poorest.
Filipino politician Cynthia Villar is the wife of billionaire businessman Manuel “Manny” Bamba Villar Jr. She was a member of the House of Representatives for the Lone District of Las Piña from 2001 to 2010.
The 70-year-old is currently a senator. She topped the senate race with 25 million votes. She was re-elected for 2nd term in the Senate in the 2019 elections.
The Senate recently posted the list of the statements of assets and liabilities and net worth (SALN) of senators on its official website. It showed that Sen. Cynthia Villar remains the richest Senator in the county.

Senators Cynthia Villar and Manny Pacquiao are the only billionaires in the Senate. Both of them have amassed over PHP3 billion wealth each.
Cynthia’s spot at number 1 is no surprise because he happens to be married to the wealthiest man in the country Manny Villar. Her husband is a former senator. He runs one of the biggest land developing conglomerates in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Pacman’s wealth was largely collected during his prime years in boxing. Senator Ralph Recto follows Cynthia and Pacquiao at number 3. Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri follows at number 4 and Bong Revilla closes the top 5 with PHP 176 million.
The Filipino senators with the smallest SALN is reported to be Senator Leila de Lima with PHP 8.3 million, followed by Sen. Risa Hontiveros with PHP16 million.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s close friend Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has the 3rd smallest net worth at PHP 18.4 million.
