Miss Universe PH released this statement just recently

The Miss Universe Philippines Organization (MUPO) issued a statement after two of the pageant’s candidates tested positive for COVID-19.

Maria Isabela Galeria, the candidate from Sorsogon, backed out from the competition. She tested positive for COVID-19 and although she already recovered, her body still needs to strengthen.

Maria Isabela Galeria, the candidate from Sorsogon, backed out from the competition. She tested positive for COVID-19 and although she already recovered, her body still needs to strengthen.

“I have the willpower, but my body is not cooperating,” Miss Sorsogon said. After her, it was reported that Miss Cagayan de Oro Vincy Vacalares also tested positive. She also decided not to continue competing.

In line with this, the Miss Universe Philippines released this statement, based on the article from GMA Entertainment.

The MUPO assured that the pageant is following the protocols strictly and that medical needs should be provided.

We have chosen St. Luke’s Medical Center as our official health partner to conduct the swab testing for all of our candidates and provide the best care and treatment needed, should any of them become positive of COVID,” said in the statement.

Although saddened by the backing out of the two contestants, the pageant is thankful for the support.

We salute their bravery and courage as they go through this difficult time and rest assured, we will continue to provide all of the help and support they need,” MUPO stated.

Despite the backing out of the two contestants, the coronation event iss still on  October 25, 9:00 AM.
