Beauty queen Pia Wurtzbach on struggles she’s facing as a title holder.
PIA WURTZBACH – Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach opens up about being challenged on proving that she’s more than being a beauty queen.
Model, actress, and crowned as Miss Universe 2015 is Pia Wurtzbach. She joined the famous Pinays who won the prestigious title namely Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), and recently crowned after her is Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
We have surely known how she tried hard to find her spot in the field of beauty pageant by joining Bb. Pilipinas for three times. And while already on verge of giving up, she won the crown and put the country back into the map. As of today, the Philippines earned 4 Miss Universe crowns already.
While having the most prestigious title in beauty pageant, Pia confessed to struggling that despite her success as a beauty queen, it’s been hard to prove herself to other people that she is more than being a beauty queen. It’s the misconception about beauty queens as just “pretty faces” without having much to say remained a challenge to her.
She admitted, “Let’s all be honest, not all people think beauty queens, ‘ah, ano yan, beauty and brains, celebrated.’ Siyempre, there are still people out there who think beauty queens [are just] pretty girls, who are onstage, and who really don’t have much going on or much to say.”
This she admitted during online pageant talk show Queentuhan last October 6. Proving this has become difficult for her most especially when she returned to the corporate world. But what she’s most thankful about are the things she learned from the pageants she joined which has absolutely brought with her in her life after the competition.
