As the month of October approaches, calls for an “academic freeze” amid the COVID-19 pandemic crossed the surface. To this, DepEd reacted and expressed disapproval of the call.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Education Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio said that the education of the children must not be hampered as they will be left behind by the students in other countries.

San Antonio stressed that other countries have already started with their school years and the Philippines is one of the last to do it. Based on the report, amid the calls for “academic freeze”, DepEd said that they are 80% ready to open the classes on October 5.
