Philippines “In Control” Of COVID-19 Situation Says Palace
PHILIPPINES “IN CONTROL” – Recently, the World Health Organization (WHO) said that the Philippines had the faster growing COVID-19 cases in the country.
However, several officials have already downplayed WHO’s statement regarding the Philippines’ coronavirus response. In a previous report, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said the country was doing “okay” against the virus.
Meanwhile, in response to WHO’s latest assessment of the Philippines, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said:
Tama ba ang mga hakbang na ginawa ng ating gobyerno? Ang sagot po namin – opo.
Hindi po tayo perpekto, siguro po talaga we could have done better. Pero narito na po tayo and one thing I can assure you, the President did the very best that he can and we are in control of the situation
Previously, Vice President Leni Robredo criticized the government’s handling of the coronavirus epidemic. She explained that the Philippines failed to “act urgently”.
But, Roque emphasized that because of the government’s response, more than 3.6 million coronavirus cases were avoided.
According to ABS-CBN, the Philippines had recorded over 35,400 coronavirus cases. Of this number, there had been 1,244 deaths while 9,686 have recovered from the deadly disease.
