Driver Was Forced Use Money to Pay Fine of Passenger not Wearing Face Shield
The poor driver was forced to use the money saved for his son’s online class because one of his passengers was caught not wearing a face shield.
Since the Philippine government has mandate wearing of face shield when going out and when you are riding public transportation, the authorities also announced that they would be fined whoever caught not wearing it.
Drivers and passengers are obliged to wear a face shield. However, there are some stubborn or some forget to wear a face shield. As a result, drivers will be fined for their violations.
This is what happened to a tricycle driver from San Vicente, Butuan. In a Facebook post of Kim Pranda Rubio, he shared that LTO told him that he was fined because his passenger was not wearing a face shield.

Amid the pandemic, the driver’s income is meager because he can only carry half the number of passengers. What worse is, he is only carrying Php 2,000, which is his savings, and that will only go towards the fine.
In the photo shared by Kim, the driver can be seen holding a plastic bag, which is said to be full of coins that he has saved for more than three months. This would have been for her son’s online class.
After Kim posts, the heartbreaking story of a poor tricycle driver, lots of netizens immediately reacted. Many were disappointed because they said they would have just reprimanded the father and not fined him.
Lucky for him, as many felt sorry for him, netizens reached out to Kim that they would give help. On the same day, Kim announced that many had sent financial aid.
He said that he received too much for the poor father. The tricycle driver allegedly recovered the fine he paid and he was also given groceries.
