2 Sisters Raise P426,000 For Teacher’s Laptop

2 SISTERS RAISE P426,000 – You’re never too young to decide to help those in need and these two sisters definitely proved that.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, millions of lives have been affected drastically, especially the lives of students and teachers. Sadly, it isn’t only the students that need help with equipment for online classes, but also teachers.

As such, two sisters aged 13 and 9, decided to raise money to provide teachers with laptops and pocket WIFIs for their online classes. According to an article from Inquirer, their mom saw a MovEd post from Instagram that 26 teachers from Bicol and Manila needed laptops for this school year.

So, the sisters, Mia and Andrea created Project L.A.P.T.O.P. (Loving and Providing Teachers Our Presents). The two started soliciting from family members, grandparents, and friends. Fortunately, they raised enough money to provide the teachers with the much needed equipment.

Their goal was to raise P390,000, but, because of their efforts, they managed to raise P426,200. Mia said they used the extra cash to buy pocket Wi-Fis for the teachers. Furthermore, she recalled that their initiative was a memorable and inspiring experience that was beyond blissful. Meanwhile, Andrea, who was just 9-years-old, said that sharing her blessings gave her a feeling of satisfaction.

Both Mia and Andrea are students at British School Manila, they are the daughters of Robina and Ricardo Barrera. As per the article, the sisters said that they saw a lot of people already raising money for frontliners. However, not that many people were raising money to support teachers.
