Police Regional Office 6 Records First COVID-19 Casualty
POLICE REGIONAL OFFICE 6 – The Police Regional Office 6 recently recorded its first police casualty of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The casualty was identified as a police officer under the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) named Police Executive Master Sergeant Angelito T. Parreño according to Panay News.
Furthermore three more PRO-6 personnel were also tested positive for COVID-19.
One of the three new cases was assigned at the PRO-6’s regional headquarters. The other two, on the other hand, were with the ICPO, according to Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, spokesperson of PRO-6.
Parreño died at the Calamba Medical Center in Laguna province while he was schooling for career advancement. He succumbed to COVID-19 and other medical complications at 5:08 AM. on August 19. He complained of breathing difficulty on August 6, which is considered a symptom of COVID-19.
In the fatality’s class, 16 of them contracted COVID while on training meant to make them serve as frontliners in Laguna.
As for the PRO-6 staff who was the positive case, he was a resident of Anilao, Iloilo and was referred to his local government unit’s quarantine facility, based on the report.
The PRO-6’s Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division conducted a contact tracing following the confirmed cases.
ICPO spokesperson Police Captain Shella Mae Sangrines said that the cases were taken to a private hospital after manifesting symptoms.
