Senate Ratifies Bayanihan 2 or 2nd COVID-19 Relief Package
BAYANIHAN 2 – The Philippine Senate has ratified the 2nd COVID-19 relief package amid the global pandemic.
COVID-19 has greatly shaken both the healthcare system and the government funds in the Philippines. The fight against this disease is not yet over and, recently, higher cases are recorded daily.
According to the Department of Health (DOH), they have recorded a total of 178,022 coronavirus cases in the Philippines as of this writing with 2,883 deaths and 114,114 recoveries.
Many healthcare professionals have aired their request to the government for a stricter community quarantine measures. It will serve as a breather to give the medical field time to prepare and better fight the pandemic.
Following the call, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte placed Metro Manila under a Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ). According to him, although he wants longer lockdowns himself, he cannot impose it as he does not anymore have the fund to sustain the food of the people.

Recently, the Senate ratified the Bayanihan 2 or the 2nd coronavirus relief package amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News’ ANC Headstart, the new package allots P165 billion for the pandemic fight.
The new package includes subsidy under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) for the residents of places that will be under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
Based on the report, Bayanihan 2 also includes P13 billion assistance for displaced workers, P9.5 billion for the transport industry, P24 billion for the agriculture industry, and P10 billion for the tourism sector.
Senator Sonny Angara also revealed that the bill includes a 60-day moratorium on loans. It also includes a P10,000.00 risk allowance for health workers in public and private hospitals.
