Manila Gov’t To Distribute Gadgets to Students & Teachers Next Week

The Manila City Government would start to distribute gadgets including tables and laptops to both students and teachers next week.

The Facebook page “Manila Public Information Office” announced that the city government would distribute gadgets for both students and teachers starting next week. The announcement earns praises from the online community.

The announcement has been made after Manila City Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso together with Cherry Chief Executive Officer Maynard Ngu signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Monday (August 17, 2020).

Aside from the tablets and laptops, the Manila LGU would also give a pocket wifi for the teachers and sim card with 10GB data allocation for the students in public schools.

Domagoso, said that the program aims to give students the opportunity to learn at the start of the blended distant learning in the country. The city government allocated P994 million for the gadgets.

However, the gadgets are strictly used for online learning only. Other websites not related to schooling will be blocked, according to Mayor Isko.

“Particular websites will be blocked, iyong connection po ay dedicated sa Google, classroom requirements at curriculum ng Department of Education. Kaya iyong nangangambang mga magulang, huwag po kayo mag-alala,” Moreno said.
