MRT-3 Resumes Trips Following Suspension Due To 280 Personnel Getting Infected by COVID-19
MRT-3 – The Manila Metro Rail Transit System Station 3 is now back to operation after over 280 of its personnel were infected by COVID-19.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought a lot of changes in the daily lives of people. Although the quarantine measures are more loose now, there are still a lot of restrictions to prevent the spread of the disease.
Globally, this disease has already claimed over 570,000 lives. In the Philippines, 54,222 cases with 1,372 deaths and 14,037 recoveries were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH).
Even the public transportation is affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Reduced capacities are implemented to practice social distancing inside the vehicles.
Previously, the MRT-3 implemented a 6-day suspension of operation. It was after 281 of its personnel were infected by the COVID-19. Based on a report on ABS-CBN, it is now back to operation today.
The management of MRT-3 needed 1,308 personnel to resume to operation. Its staff tested for COVID-19 and 2,103 of them were found negative for the disease.
According to the report, the employees who will be reporting to work starting Monday will be in full safety gear. According to the management, there are 14 train sets that will take routes including the two (2) Dalian train sets and twelve (12) CKD train sets.
The trains will start taking route at 5:30 in the morning from the North Avenue station and the Taft Avenue station. The last trips are at 9:10 in the evening from the North Avenue station and 10:11 in the evening from the Taft Avenue station.
