There were eighty-five members of the committee where 46 regular members and 39 ex-officio members cast their votes. 70 rejected, 11 went to dismiss rejection, 2 to inhibit, and 1 to abstain. The rejection came after 13 hearings were held where the network addressed issues such as the citizenship of the network’s chair emeritus Gabby Lopez, alleged labor violations, tax issues, political biases, and many others.

Those who voted “No” which means not in favor over the resolution to junk the franchise renewal of the company are:

  • Rep. Sol Aragones
  • Rep. Christopher De Venecia
  • Rep. Carlos Zarate
  • Rep. Gabriel Bordado Jr.
  • Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto
  • Rep. Lianda Bolilia
  • Rep. Jose Tejada
  • Rep. Bienvenido Abante
  • Rep. Stella Quimbo
  • Rep. Mujiv Hataman
  • Rep. Edward Maceda

And one of the stars of the network, Anne Curtis, completely in daze over the result, expressed sadness and was heart-broken over the decision of the lawmakers. Her heart breaks to those who are affected by this and she is certain that people will never forget this day. She is hopeful this not going to be the end of everything.

She wrote, “I am lost for words. My heart breaks for everyone that is affected by this…. from our bosses to all the employees and the loyal viewers of ABSCBN… It is indeed a very sad day. I know people won’t forget this…”
