ABS-CBN Employees Cry & Hug Each Other After House Committee Denied Giving Network Franchise

ABS-CBN EMPLOYEES – The workers and staff of the ABS-CBN went emotional after the denial of the network’s franchise bid.

For more than two (2) months now, the broadcast operation of the ABS-CBN network is on off-air. It was after the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) released a Cease and Desist Order against the network.

The franchise of the Kapamilya network has expired. Several hearings were held in line with the bid for the network to be allowed to renew its franchise or obtain a new one.

Its president, Carlo Katigbak, assured the authorities that they will commit to continue pushing for the betterment of the network. Several celebrities also pleaded for the network to be given a new franchise.

Today, July 10, the House Franchise Committee decided on the fate of the ABS-CBN network’s franchise. With a 70-11-2-1 voting result, the Kapamilya network was denied on its bid for a new franchise.

Seventy (70) lawmakers voted for the denial of a new franchise for the network while eleven (11) supports giving it a new franchise. Two (2) lawmakers inhibited from the voting and one (1) abstained.

Following the denial of a new franchise for the network, several ABS-CBN employees could not resist from getting emotional. They cried and hugged each other.

Based on a post of ABS-CBN News, 11,000 ABS-CBN employees are at risk of losing their jobs following the verdict on the network’s franchise. This giant company has been on the service for decades already.
