ABS-CBN Franchise Issue: Solon’s proofs claiming network’s fake land title

New discourses on ABS-CBN Franchise Issue

ABS-CBN Franchise Issue – Representative Rodante Marcoleta showed his proofs claiming that the TV giant has a fake land title.

During the Day 12 of the House hearing on the franchise renewal of the media company, Marcoleta raised this issue. He said that he had a parliamentary inquiry. The lawmaker pointed out that the land title that ABS-CBN submitted to Congress was a photocopy so he acquired the electronic copy from the Quezon City Registry of Deeds.

He died a side-by-side comparison of the two documents and stressed the torn portion on the lower part of the document from the QC Registry. Meanwhile, the document that ABS-CBN presented was not torn and it showed the Certificate of Title No. 110731.

Marcoleta said that he looked on Canceled Title #110731 and the address was in Nagkaisang Nayon in Novaliches with a lot area of 42 square meters which is different from the address of the ABS-CBN headquarters in Quezon City.

In the land title presented by ABS-CBN, the stated lot area was 44,000 plus square meters. The lawmaker also showed that the network’s submitted title #125702 has a marking “PR-9690” or the Provisional Registration which means it is a temporary title.

Then, Marcoleta asked the lawyers of the network why there was no attached PR copy in the title that ABS-CBN submitted. Since the document from the TV giant was dated 1967, the lawmaker wondered why ABS-CBN did not acquire the permanent title after 53 years.

“‘Yun pong hinihingi ni Congressman Marcoleta wala po kaming sagot dun sa PR na sinasabi niya po,” the representative of ABS-CBN answered when asked about this.

Congressman Jose Antonio Sy-Alvarado stressed that the said document asked by Marcoleta will prove that network really owns the area where its headquarters is located.

The network’s representative answered that they already submitted the certified true copy of the said title. Congressman Mike Defensor said that it was a different document and Marcoleta also agreed.
